    Therapeutic Massage for expecting mothers

Why should I get Prenatal massage?

Prenatal massage offers tailored support to mothers during each stage of pregnancy, helping the body adapt to the unique physical and emotional changes it undergoes. This nurturing treatment not only provides relief from the natural discomforts of pregnancy, such as back pain, swelling, and muscle tension, but also promotes relaxation, which benefits both mother and baby. Studies show that regular massage can help reduce stress levels, support healthy hormone balance, and improve sleep quality—all of which contribute to a healthier pregnancy and can positively impact fetal development. While prenatal massage is often recommended after the first trimester, it can also be safely received in the first trimester for low-risk pregnancies. Regular sessions throughout the second and third trimesters offer ongoing support as the body prepares for birth, making prenatal massage a valuable part of a well-rounded approach to maternal health.

    What are the benefits>

Prenatal massage offers many benefits that support both physical and emotional well-being during pregnancy. It alleviates muscle tension in key areas like the lower back, hips, and legs, and reduces swelling in the feet and ankles by improving circulation and lymphatic drainage. Enhanced circulation not only relieves discomfort but also aids in delivering nutrients to both mother and baby. Massage can also reduce stress and promote relaxation, which helps balance hormone levels and improve mood. Many expectant mothers find that prenatal massage promotes better sleep, easing physical tension and helping with sleep disturbances.

    How does it work?:

In the early weeks of pregnancy, prenatal massage can be performed with the client lying face down, allowing for comfortable access to relieve tension in the back, shoulders, and hips. After 13 weeks, however, I shift to a side-lying position to prevent placing pressure on the abdomen and the broad ligament, which supports the uterus. Lying face down beyond this point can place unwanted stress on this ligament, making the side-lying position a safer and more supportive alternative. With ample pillows and bolstering, I ensure that you’re fully supported and relaxed throughout the entire session.
